The port city of Dakar is the Senegalese capital and the former capital of French West Africa. Ille de Goree is a charming island off the coast of Dakar that resembles a French town. Visit the bustling city of Bamako, capital of Mali and the Cape Verde Islands, which over five hundred years ago served as a base for the Portuguese as they rounded Africa.
